2. Destin real estate market appreciation
Our beaches and coastal dune lakes aren’t the only things unique about Destin, Miramar Beach and 30A. The Destin to 30A area market has proven to remain resilient through both economic downturns and natural disasters while continuing to appreciate significantly year-to-year. Newman-Dailey Realtor, Julie Walck, reflects on her personal experience investing in this market:
“My husband grew to hate the cold Midwest winters. He was ready to make a move right away, but I was not on board until about five years later. Had I listened to him sooner we could have purchased a home in Miramar Beach for about $100,000 less than we ended up paying. Lesson learned, do not drag your feet when it comes to making a move. And today, our purchase has already doubled in value from what we paid.”
“Then about two years ago, I wanted to buy a one bedroom condo in Maravilla. We could have purchased it for $185,000, but my husband was not in favor as he did not think the rental income would justify the price. Today, that same unit is selling for about $315,000. With vacation rentals in high demand, I am certain it would have been a money-maker. Do not second guess a purchase when the Realtor spouse recognizes the potential in a property.”
