Expansion Complete at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport.

The Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) officially opened the new highly anticipated Concourse C in September. As one of 22 joint-use commercial service airports in the country, Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport has seen tremendous growth since 2016 when it added service from Allegiant Air. In 2016, Allegiant started service from Destin to St. Louis and Cincinnati. Within two years, by 2018, Allegiant was providing service to 22 destinations and announced VPS as its place of operations.

Holiday Travel – Best Days to Book & Fly

Holiday Travel TripAdvisor's fall travel survey, which forecasts trends from September to November, showed 6 of 10 Americans plan to travel this fall and 49% plan to fly. USA Today reported booking flights sooner than later since rates will climb is the best way to save on airfare. Experts also recommend flying on non-peak travel days. The article reports that passengers can save an average 5% on airfare by flying on the Sunday, Monday or Tuesday of a holiday week instead of the day prior. The best deals for travel are on holiday days, i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Easter.

New Airline for 2023

In other exciting news, the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport will be adding a new airline to the schedule in 2023—Sun Country Airlines. Like Allegiant, Sun Country will offer direct flights on specific days of the week to markets, including Las Vegas, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Newark, NJ (NYC), Phoenix, and Los Angeles.
