Topsail Hill State Preserve - A Treasure Along the Emerald Coast

In honor of Earth Day, we’re celebrating the area’s natural attractions. Topsail Hill is a beach-front state park that encompasses 1,600 acres! Celebrating 20 years since its founding in 1998, Topsail Hill features more than 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, five rare coastal dune lakes and 3.2 miles of beach. Three of the coastal dune lakes are accessible via hiking trails, including Campbell Lake and Morris Lake. Among the park’s many special features, Topsail Hill features the tallest dunes along the Gulf Coast. These dunes and natural lands are home to rare Choctawhatchee Beach Mouse. These cute little nocturnal creatures are vital to dunes and a healthy ecosystem. Look for their tracks while hiking the dune trails.  

The park also has an active geocache program in which families receive a list of coordinates and search for treasures hidden throughout the park. Park Hours are from 8 a.m. to sunset daily. Park admission is $4/vehicle and includes complimentary tram service from the parking area to the beach. The tram runs every hour on the hour starting at 9 a.m. The park is located at 7525 W County Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach. Visit the park website to learn more.
