Tasting of Champions Wine Event, Feb. 19

It’s time for wine! Whether you’re a casual wine drinker or a wine connoisseur, you’ll have a great experience at the annual Tasting of Champions. Hosted by the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), Tasting of Champions provides participants an opportunity to sample the more than 650 wines that will be featured at the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival the last weekend of April.

Tasting of Champions will be held on Friday, February 19 at Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa from 6-8 p.m. This exclusive “first taste” includes opportunities to sample wines from some of the most popular vintners as well as small format and boutique wineries from around the U.S. and the world.

Prior to the event, a panel of wine experts, including  Alexander Peartree of Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Mike Haney of Black Dog Cellars, and Bill Whiting at Banfi Vintners, among others, will score the 600 wines entered into the South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival private wine judging competition. The judges will then select a gold, silver, and bronze medal winner in each of the 60 categories.

Tasting of Champions allows the public to taste all the wines entered in the competition, including “Best in Show Red” and “Best in Show White” winners. The event is structured in a walkabout format with the wines grouped by category. The event is complemented by live music by Austin Jennings and light hors-d'oeuvres.The best part is that attendees can try all these wines for $50/person. Click here to purchase tickets.
