Bluegrass at the Beach in Destin Next Weekend

Do you enjoy Bluegrass music? A wonderful genre of music that blends string band, gospel, country, and blues music repertoires and celebrates the harmonic sounds of string instruments, including mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitar, and bass. If so, then you won’t want to miss the inaugural Bluegrass at the Beach Music Festival, Sept. 12, 2015, in Destin, Florida!

This incredible Saturday of live performances at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village will celebrate this special genre of music and the arts.

The lineup for the Bluegrass at the Beach festival includes a dynamic roster of seven local, regional and national acts along with a special appearance by rising bluegrass star Danielle Yother. In addition, the Emerald Coast’s first bluegrass festival also will feature bluegrass-themed artist demos, workshops and hands-on art stations for young bluegrass fans, plenty of food and drink, along with several other surprises, too.

10:00 a.m.      Danielle Yother, 16 year-old rising bluegrass star will kick things off
11:00 a.m.      Dismal Creek will open the show with its sizzling Southern sound
12:15 p.m.      Dread Clampitt, local folk favorites, will perform their popular hits
1:45 p.m.        Arizona’s Run Boy Run gives the roster ‘Appalachian punch’ 
3:00 p.m.        Moore Brothers Band
5:00 p.m.        Alabama’s Willie Sugarcapps will share their soulful sounds 
6:45 p.m.        The Hillbenders will deliver a high octane performance
8 p.m.             Tennessee’s Blue Highway — one of bluegrass music’s most accomplished and seasoned bands

In between music performances and throughout the daylong event, attendees will be treated to Pickin’ & Paintin’ — a series of live performances, bluegrass-inspired artist demonstrations, lively storytelling sessions by professional actors and colorful folk art exhibits.
