Memorial Day Events in South Walton & Destin

The official start to summer is almost here. And what better place to spend Memorial Day, honoring those who have served our country while spending time with family and friends than along the sugar sand beaches of South Walton and Destin, Florida.
 
After a day of soaking up the sun, there are plenty of Memorial Day events along the Emerald Coast that will have the family feeling patriotic as well as entertained.
   
At Sandestin’s Village of Baytowne Wharf, live music begins Saturday and lasts all weekend long. Enjoy bands on the Events Plaza stage each night. Children’s activities will be featured in the Events Plaza on Sunday night, and then the sky above the lagoon lights up with a patriotic fireworks show at 9:15pm.
 
On Monday, Sandestin hosts a special Memorial Day program just before sunset, presented by Sandestin veterans. Admission is free and open to the public. For details call 850.267.8117.
 
At Seaside, the fun starts Saturday at 7 pm. Grab your blankets and low back chairs, pick up a picnic dinner at one of the many delicious Seaside merchants, and head to the Amphitheater to enjoy a family movie under the stars, followed by live musical entertainment by Cereus Bright and fireworks over the Gulf. Free and open to the public.
 
Alys Beach features Sinfonia Goes Pops on the Alys Beach Green on Sunday evening at 7:30 pm. Bring your low back chairs and blankets and enjoy the orchestral sounds of Sinfonia, the region’s only fully professional symphony orchestra, while enjoying food from Piper’s Kitchen, the town’s globally-influenced food trailer. The evening will end with a bang in a patriotic fireworks display.
 
Enjoy Memorial Day on the water with the SunQuest Cruises Memorial Day Fireworks Dinner Cruise on Sunday evening. Dine and dance as you cruise aboard the SOLARIS yacht. Enjoy three decks of indoor and outdoor fun. The evening includes a 3 course dinner, live entertainment and unlimited panoramic views of Choctawhatchee Bay. The SOLARIS departs from the marina at the Sandestin Golf  and Beach Resort at 6:30 p.m.. Click herefor more information.

At HarborWalk Village, families will be treated to music and fireworks. The fun begins Saturday at 4 pm with performances from The Village Belles and Tobacco Road. It continues on Sunday with performances by Flash Flood, followed by fan favorite Departure - The Journey Tribute Band. At 9 p.m., the evening concludes with an electrifying fireworks display over Destin Harbor.
