2014 Destin Fishing Rodeo Oct 1-31

At Newman-Dailey, we appreciate traditions--holiday traditions, family traditions and community traditions. One of the most cherished Destin traditions is the Destin Fishing Rodeo. Since 1948, the fishing community has been coming together for a fun spirited competition to see who can hook the biggest while proving time and time again Destin is indeed the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.”  
 
The Destin Fishing Rodeo is held from Oct 1 - 31 with daily weigh-ins at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar and special events held throughout the month. Reeling in king mackerel, grouper, amberjack, black tuna and triggerfish, among many others, boat captains head out of the Desitn Harbor daily with the goal of claiming one of the coveted titles. Records are often broken with 2012 marking a new record for an amberjack, weighing in at 111.6 lbs! 
 
Join the fun as a spectator or a competitor! The Rodeo is open to private and charter boats and is free to angler’s fishing aboard aboat registered in the Rodeo. Kids can join the fun too. Fishing on pier bridge jetty is free for anglers 14 years or younger and $25 for angers 15 and over. With over $100,000 in cash and prizes, the Rodeo includes dozens of categories with daily, weekly and overall prizes.
